A New Meteorology

This Pantomime Text rethinks meteorology as the study not of weather but of the atmospheric conditions under which worlds become capable of articulation. Beginning with a rewriting of Aristotle’s Meteorology, the project reinterprets the metaxu—the middle region between earth and heaven—as a respiratory geometry where terrestrial and celestial orders continually negotiate their coexistence. In dialogue with the Cartesian transformation of nature into extension and mechanism, it proposes an alternative genealogy in which breathing, mediation, and articulation precede representation. This respiratory geometry opens onto a new understanding of objectivity, informed by quantum optics, where observation is conceived as a public condition of relational appearance rather than a detached act of measurement. The project ultimately extends toward a mathematical spirituality inspired by the work of Grothendieck, where cultivation replaces control, meteora become figures of relational emergence, and mathematics itself is understood as the patient cultivation of forms capable of sustaining communication across heterogeneous realities. Rather than explaining the world, this new meteorology investigates the atmospheric conditions through which the world learns to speak.
